Forum for Vaccine Social Science (FoVaS)
The “Forum for Vaccine Social Science” (FoVaS) is an international network of social scientists rethinking how vaccines and vaccination are studied in society.
Beginning with 17 scholars from 16 countries, we were formed in 2025 to explore how the social sciences can better contribute to tackling current and anticipated challenges to vaccination efforts.
Following a year of collaborative discussions, our first workshop took place at St Cross College, Oxford (24–25 Nov), supported by the Vaccines and Society Unit. Next steps include workshops, co-authored articles, and community engagement—especially with partners in the Global South.
Outcomes From Our Annual Workshop:
Vaccines & Vaccinations: A Future Agenda for Social Sciences & Policy
24th November 2025
The University of Oxford’s Vaccines and Society Unit (VAS) scientists and social scientists from across the University met with members of the wider global community to examine the challenges hindering global vaccine rollout and explore how social science methods can help address both current and emerging obstacles.
